Description

Seiko has expanded the Presage Cocktail Time collection with three new, more compact models — the HCB001, HCB002 and HCB003. The Cocktail Time has long been one of the best gateways into mechanical watchmaking, and this trio leans directly into that value proposition with a smaller 38.5mm case and a sharp sub-€500 price.

The recipe is familiar and proven: a shimmering sunburst dial inspired by Tokyo cocktail culture, an in-house automatic movement, and dress-watch proportions that work as easily under a cuff as with a T-shirt.

Design

Each model gets a sunburst dial in a distinct tone: the HCB001 pairs a blue dial with a stainless steel bracelet; the HCB002 sets a green dial against a brown cow-leather strap; and the HCB003 warms things up with a brown dial on a darker cow-leather strap. The 38.5mm steel case sits at a slim 11.8mm, and the faceted indices and dauphine-style hands catch light the way the Cocktail Time always has. The green HCB002 is the standout of the three.

What's Exciting

A sub-€500 automatic with the Cocktail Time's trademark sunburst dials and a more wrist-friendly 38.5mm case is exactly the kind of entry point that keeps mechanical watchmaking accessible. The 4R35 is not a chronometer, but it hacks, hand-winds, and has proven itself reliable across countless Seikos. For a first mechanical watch, or a low-stakes rotation piece, this trio is very hard to argue with — and the more compact case answers a long-standing request from buyers with smaller wrists.

History

The Presage Cocktail Time was born from Seiko's collaboration with Tokyo bartender Hisashi Kishi, whose award-winning cocktails inspired the line's shimmering, layered dials. Since its international debut in 2017, the Cocktail Time has become one of Seiko's most recognisable affordable dress watches. These 2026 HCB references continue that lineage while addressing sizing — trimming the case toward the vintage-friendly 38.5mm mark.
