Description
Parmigiani Fleurier turns 30 this year, and rather than a commemorative dial or an engraved caseback, the Fleurier manufacture has chosen the quietest possible flex: its three “disappearing complication” Tonda PF models — the GMT Rattrapante, the Minute Rattrapante and the Chronographe Mystérieux — recast from head to toe in 950 platinum. Case, knurled bezel and the full integrated bracelet are all rendered in the dense white metal, each model limited to 30 pieces in a nod to the anniversary, sold individually or as a trilogy set.
The three watches share Parmigiani’s signature party trick: complications that stay invisible until summoned. The GMT Rattrapante (ref. PFC905-2020002-200182, CHF 91,000) hides a rose-gold second-time-zone hand beneath the main hour hand, revealed and snapped back by a pusher in the crown. The Minute Rattrapante (ref. PFC904-2020001-200182, CHF 93,000) deploys a rose-gold countdown minute hand advanced in five- and one-minute increments via teardrop pushers. The Chronographe Mystérieux (ref. PFC908-2020001-200182, CHF 99,600) goes furthest: its central chronograph hands simply do not exist on the dial until the monopusher is pressed, at which point they materialise, run, and vanish again on reset.
This is haute horlogerie aimed at the collector who already owns the obvious things — discreet, technically dense, and in a metal whose weight only the wearer will ever notice.
Design
All three share the Tonda PF vocabulary defined by Guido Terreni’s team: a 40mm case with the finely knurled platinum bezel, a sandblasted natural-platinum dial left in its raw grey tone, applied 18k gold indices plated in rhodium, and skeletonised delta-shaped hands. The GMT and Minute Rattrapante are 10.7mm thick with 60m of water resistance; the Chronographe Mystérieux runs 13mm and 100m. The integrated platinum bracelet tapers from the case in brushed links with polished chamfers — on the wrist the trilogy reads as a monochrome sculpture in greys, the rose-gold on-demand hands providing the only flash of colour when called upon. Sapphire crystals front and back; the chronograph’s rotor is a skeletonised 22k rose-gold affair.

What's Exciting
The disappearing-complication concept is Parmigiani’s single most original contribution of the Terreni era, and the PF053 remains the only serially made chronograph whose display literally is not there until you ask for it — a triple-clutch, 362-component answer to a question nobody else thought to pose. Putting all three on full platinum bracelets multiplies the discretion: several hundred grams of precious metal styled to look like brushed steel. At 30 pieces per reference, this trilogy will be allocated long before boutique stock lists ever show it, and it is exactly the kind of connoisseur bait that marks how far Parmigiani has travelled from near-anonymity to one of the sharpest identities in high watchmaking.
History
Michel Parmigiani founded the manufacture in Fleurier in 1996 on the back of the Sandoz Family Foundation, building one of the very few genuinely vertically integrated movement industries in Switzerland (Vaucher Manufacture is its sister company). After two decades as a respected restorer’s brand with modest commercial traction, the 2021 arrival of CEO Guido Terreni and the Tonda PF line transformed it into one of the most coveted names of the decade. The GMT Rattrapante debuted in 2022, the Minute Rattrapante followed, and the Chronographe Mystérieux arrived at Watches & Wonders 2026 in steel with a blue guilloché dial. The platinum trilogy marks 30 years of the manufacture — and the first time all three on-demand complications have been offered as a matched set.
