Description
In a significant first, IWC introduces the Le Petit Prince aesthetic to the Portofino collection. The Portofino Automatic Day & Night 34 Le Petit Prince (Ref. IW459806) is the most romantic and poetic expression in the entire IWC × Le Petit Prince universe. With a charming day/night indicator at 6 o'clock showing the Little Prince standing on the moon, gazing at the starry sky, this 34mm dress watch transforms a complication into storytelling.
Design
The 34mm stainless steel case is dainty and elegant — a departure from the utilitarian pilot's watch aesthetic. The deep blue dial features gold-plated appliqués and hands with a sunray finish, creating warmth and depth. The star of the design is the day/night indicator at 6 o'clock: a small disc completes one full rotation every 24 hours, with the sun appearing at the top at noon and the moon — with the Little Prince standing on it — at midnight. A hand-coloured blue calfskin strap by Italian artisan Santoni adds an artisanal touch, paired with a butterfly folding clasp.

What's Exciting About This Watch
This is the most emotionally resonant piece in the entire IWC 2026 lineup. The day/night indicator isn't just a complication — it's a miniature stage where the Little Prince lives. At 34mm and 8.9mm thin, it's also the most wearable IWC at the fair. The fact that IWC chose the Portofino — their most elegant, Italian-inflected collection — for the first non-Pilot Le Petit Prince watch shows sophisticated brand thinking. The Santoni hand-coloured strap elevates it beyond mass production into artisanal territory.
History
The Portofino collection has always been IWC's most elegant range, inspired by the Italian coastal village. The Day & Night complication has been in the Portofino lineup since its modern revival. But pairing it with Le Petit Prince is a first — and it works beautifully because Saint-Exupéry's story is fundamentally about looking at the stars, which is exactly what the day/night indicator shows.
