Description
The IWC Ingenieur Automatic 42 in dark olive green ceramic (Ref. IW338902) is the first coloured ceramic execution of the Gérald Genta-derived integrated-bracelet Ingenieur. Following the success of the black ceramic version launched in 2025, IWC now adds olive green to the palette — a colour that complements the 18-carat gold accents beautifully.
Design
The multi-part ceramic architecture is impressive: case ring, bezel, and caseback ring are all dark olive green zirconium oxide ceramic, unified with the crown protection element. A thin titanium ring secures the movement internally and carries the functional screws. The crown is crafted from 18-carat 5N gold, while the bezel screws are 18-carat Armor Gold — IWC's proprietary scratch-resistant gold alloy. The olive green Grid-pattern dial ties everything together, with gold-plated indices and hands filled with Super-LumiNova.

What's Exciting About This Watch
Coloured ceramic is technically demanding — achieving a consistent olive green throughout the sintering process is much harder than black. IWC's Armor Gold bezel screws are a clever detail: this proprietary alloy is significantly harder than standard gold, resisting the scratches that would ruin lesser gold elements on a sports watch. The combination of green ceramic with warm gold accents creates something unique in the integrated-bracelet luxury sports watch category — it doesn't look like anything else on the market.
History
The Ingenieur's integrated bracelet design originated with Gérald Genta in 1976. IWC relaunched the modern Ingenieur in ceramic format starting with black in 2025. The green ceramic expansion for 2026 shows IWC's commitment to building the Ingenieur into a serious luxury sports watch collection to rival the established names.
