History
Nomos Glashütte was founded in 1990 by Roland Schwertner, months after German reunification, reviving watchmaking in the historic Saxon town of Glashütte — a region synonymous with fine German horology since Ferdinand Adolph Lange established his workshop there in 1845. Nomos developed its own in-house calibers, evolving into the DUW family of automatic movements with a proprietary Nomos swing system escapement, making it one of the few independents producing its own escapement.
