History

Hanhart was founded in 1882 by Johann A. Hanhart in Diessenhofen, Switzerland, before relocating to Schwenningen in Germany's Black Forest. During WWII, the Luftwaffe commissioned Hanhart flyback chronographs for pilots, producing icons like the TachyTele with caliber 40 — distinguished by their signature red chronograph pusher, painted to prevent accidental resets during missions. These wartime chronographs are among the most collectible vintage German timepieces, and the red pusher remains Hanhart's most recognizable design element.
